    Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to learn about gardening and native plants while getting some fresh air and gentle exercise. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other volunteers with similar interests as we work together to restore and protect our precious local ecosystems. Come join us, everyone is welcome – whether you come weekly or occasionally! Together we can make a difference.

    Restoration

In the ecology context, “restoration” usually means “habitat restoration”, which involves pulling invasive plants to improve habitat for native plants. Want to get involved in restoration projects? Volunteers are always needed!

    • Here is a list of invasive plant removal projects, with dates and contact information as appropriate.
    • View this list of California State Parks work days.

    Native Plant Nursery

Help spread critically important native plants by volunteering in our nursery. Nursery work involves all aspects of growing the plants that we offer at our plant sales as well as maintaining our demonstration garden/living seed bank.
    • New volunteers are always welcome!  No prior experience is necessary.  Training and tools will be provided.
    • Join us on any Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
    • Wear comfortable clothes that can get a little dirty.
    • Bring a water bottle.
    • Our nursery is located at Freshwater Farms Reserve. 5851 Myrtle Ave, Eureka, CA.
    • Email us at if you would like more information

    Recycle Nursery Pots

Recycling nursery pots is one of the many ways you can support the nursery. Reusing pots means we don’t have to buy as many new plastic pots, which reduces our costs and helps the environment. Win-win! For more information, visit Recycling Nursery Pots or email us at .
